Solo Developer Grows Mon.ai to $35K Monthly Through Creator Partnership

Solo Developer Grows Mon.ai to $35K Monthly Through Creator Partnership

Starter Story describes how German developer Flo grew his AI expense tracker Mon.ai from $300 to $35K monthly after partnering with a Colombian content creator on a profit-share deal. The post outlines the strategy and a partner-finding playbook.

Original post · 1 min read
This guy’s app was stuck at $300/month for 18 months. Then he partnered with ONE influencer and hit $35K/month in a year.

Meet Flo - a German solo dev who built Mon.ai, an AI-powered expense tracker. He spent a year and a half trying every distribution channel by himself. Barely made a few hundred bucks.

Then a Colombian content creator found his socials inside the app and reached out. They negotiated a deal: fixed monthly retainer + percentage of PROFITS (not revenue - that didn’t scale).

Only 3 videos a month. High quality, story-driven. That’s it.

The first video? Just a simple walkthrough. Within a week they 10x’d MRR. Within a month they were at $8K.

Then $13K. Then Apple invited them to WWDC together - that video did 1.7M views and added $5K MRR. Latest feature video pushed them past $35K.

Total growth: 10,000%.

Why it worked:

> Skin in the game. Profit share = he thinks like an owner, not a contractor
> Quality over quantity. 3 videos > 100 spammy TikToks
> Look OUTSIDE the US. The Colombian market was wide open
> Put your socials IN the app so creators can find you

Flo’s playbook for finding your own partner:

1. Align on lifestyle, tone, audience
2. Warm up the relationship (follow, comment, be real)
3. Reference a specific video in your outreach
4. Connect the dots to your product
5. Signal willingness to pay early, show them the ceiling

Takeaway: You probably don’t have a product problem. You most likely have a distribution problem.

Secretary Duffy Describes AI Tool SMART for Air Traffic Control

Secretary Duffy Describes AI Tool SMART for Air Traffic Control▶

Garry Tan recounts an interview with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy about modernizing air traffic management. Duffy cites the SMART tool from Air Space Intelligence, which predicts congestion and helps spread flights, with controllers still making final decisions.

Original post · 1 min read
I asked Secretary Duffy what Americans should be able to do, if we get this decade right, that they can't do today.

Sean Duffy is the Secretary of Transportation, and he sat down with me at our Startup Industrial Base event in DC today. He went straight to how our country's air traffic gets managed.

At the command center, people sit in front of six screens with a paper flight chart above them, trying to make the calls on weather and routing.

His example: four planes reach the same runway at the same time and only one can land. See it two hours out, speed up two, slow one down, and each one lands when the runway is open. "Like, not complicated stuff, but we don't do any of this."

Paper and pencil and minimal human augmentation from software looks like this: Say an airport can take 15 planes in a 15 minute window. "Well, the airlines will schedule 32." He says he's handing the airlines that data and asking them to spread out.

The tool is SMART, from Air Space Intelligence, a small company he says competed with the biggest companies and won. It predicts. His stage example: a 2.5 hour ground stop might only need 45 minutes. He's taken heat for supposedly handing air traffic control to AI. Duffy's answer? "it's dumb AI, not smart AI." Controllers still make every call.

None of this needs a breakthrough. It needs the will of the people to know they need to use software and be ok with AI augmentation instead of insisting on a paper chart and copper wire.

Nvidia Alumnus Explains Shift From Copper to Optical Interconnects

Nvidia Alumnus Explains Shift From Copper to Optical Interconnects▶

In an interview shared by Molly O'Shea, former Nvidia engineer Yannick De Koninck says AI models outgrow single GPUs and copper is running out of bandwidth, pushing data centers toward optical interconnects. He now works at Thema, which is building photonics manufacturing in Europe.

Original post · 1 min read
“Copper is running out of steam.”

Yannick De Koninck, who helped develop silicon photonics at Nvidia, explains why AI models & agents are pushing data centers from copper to light:

“The models have gotten so large that they no longer fit on a single GPU. So what we need to do is interconnect multiple GPUs together to run these models.”

“As these GPUs get faster, they need more data, they need more data at a faster rate, and copper is running out of steam.”

“That's why we're transitioning to optical interconnects, which bring much higher data transfer bandwidths.”

NEW: Why This NVIDIA Engineer Left to Build @ThemaFoundry

Thema is building photonics manufacturing capacity in Europe

“If you look at an AI factory today, 50% of that is GPUs, but the other 50% is the technology to interconnect these GPUs.”

I sat down with Thema's CEO Herwig Van Hove & CTO Yannick De Koninck in Monaco to go deep on the photonics supply chain powering the next generation of AI infrastructure.

Yannick spent 5 years at NVIDIA, where he helped build its silicon photonics technology from scratch to product-ready maturity. He left what he calls the “golden palace” to join Thema…

Noah Kagan Analyzes $46 Million in AppSumo Software Sales

Noah Kagan Analyzes $46 Million in AppSumo Software Sales

Noah Kagan reviews $46 million of AppSumo software sales, finding customer acquisition tools lead at 36%, AI content tools at 23% and infrastructure declining. He advises founders to sell outcomes, deliver results for customers, and charge for usage when products consume tokens.

Original post · 1 min read
I looked at $46M of software sales on AppSumo.

Everyone says software is dead.🪦 It's not.

What's popular in software today:

36% Get me customers (outbound, SEO, social)
23% Make the stuff for me (AI writing, voice, video)
12% AI agents and app builders
11% Run my business (calendar, CRM)
6% Infrastructure (email, hosting, backend)

AI content tools more than doubled in a year.

Infrastructure is on the decline.

Software isn't dead. Software you have to manage is.

If you're building today:

1- Sell the outcome. "10 booked calls" beats "outreach platform."
2- Get people customers or do the work for them. Nothing in between.
3- If your product burns tokens, charge for usage.

Angela Duckworth Discusses How External Factors Shape Success

Harvard Business Review promotes a Q&A with University of Pennsylvania professor Angela Duckworth on how situations shape high achievers, how to diagnose a bad work situation, and how organizations can bring out the best in people.

Original post · 1 min read
While many high achievers rely on positive internal attributes like intelligence, passion, and perseverance, research shows that external factors also play a big role in their success.

In this Q&A with University of Pennsylvania professor Angela Duckworth, she explains why leaders' situations often matter as much as their mindsets and behaviors. She also offers advice on how to diagnose and change a bad work situation, and outlines what managers and organizations can do to create workplaces that bring out the best in their people.

Lauren Describes Using Grok Bot With Cursor Cloud Agents

Lauren Describes Using Grok Bot With Cursor Cloud Agents

Lauren describes a workflow in which a Grok bot in Slack hands coding tasks to Cursor cloud agents, organized into Projects, so the bot acts as a manager while each agent writes code on its own machine.

Original post · 1 min read
grok @bot combined with cloud agents is a magical experience! here's my favorite use case:

1. create a new team engineer bot and add it to slack
2. @ your bot whenever you want it to do some coding work
3. you can even tell it to create new Projects, which is a way to group together many related agents into one conversation

you can use any model available on cursor with these cloud agents, and since they each have their own computer, it frees up your bot to be more of a manager rather than write the code itself!
Grok Bot @bot
Grok Bot is now more powerful for building software.

Bots can hand off coding tasks to Cursor, manage your PRs with GitHub and Origin plugins, and share video demos of what they build.

Aakash Gupta Argues PMs Should Build Public GitHub Portfolios

All PM candidates have resumes. Only 24% have a GitHub.

When I interviewed 10+ AI PM leaders at top companies, the hiring managers told me the same thing: if there's a GitHub linked, they will check it.

Shubham Saboo went from Dev Rel to senior AI PM at Google in 3 months. Google reached out because of his GitHub, and because of the way he shared his work on X.

You don't need one his size. PMs I placed at OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta AI all had GitHubs. None of them had 76K-star repos.

Huberman Clip Outlines Daily Breathing Practice for Focus

Huberman Clip Outlines Daily Breathing Practice for Focus▶

Huberman Lab Clips shares a short video describing a 5 to 10 minute daily attention practice based on breath or a visual target, citing Wendy Suzuki's NYU lab research on focus and memory.

Original post · 1 min read
Doing this for 10 minutes a day will improve your focus:

- Sit or lie down, close your eyes and focus on your breathing for 5-10 min a day
- Your attention will drift. Bring it back to the breath. That is the practice
- Eyes-open version works too: hold a visual target, blink freely, return your attention to it over and over
- Any time of day works, though late night disrupts sleep for some people
- Miss a day, no big deal. Get right back to it the next day

Wendy Suzuki's lab at NYU: 10 min a day improves focus, memory and recall. Zero cost.

Savip Claims Grok Bot Trading Desk Turned $1,000 Into $86,695

Savip Claims Grok Bot Trading Desk Turned $1,000 Into $86,695▶

Savip says a six-bot Grok trading desk named Megabrain (Jev) turned $1,000 into $86,695 over nine nights by buying a crypto token called Effective Accelerationism during panic sells. The post promotes a paid-looking setup guide and includes trade logs, though the returns are unverified.

Original post · 2 min read
I CAN'T BELIEVE I SLEPT WHILE JEV + MY GROK BOTS TURNED $1,000 INTO $86,695 BY BUYING THE F*CKING BOTTOM OFF PANIC SELLERS

last night Jev picked a coin called Effective Accelerationism out of 74, named after the AI go-faster crowd

it opened at $11.12M in total value and bled for 19 hours

by 21:45 it was at $5.11M, if you bought at the open and held, you were down 54%

that's the exact minute my bots bought

the video is the desk live, it checks 5 coins a second and the six bots talk while they trade:

risk: the 18:30 wick was a trap, we paid 659

scan: the coin bled to 5.11M, we bought it

fills: the limit sell sits above 14M

five of the eight trades, priced by what the whole coin was worth at that minute:

→ 02:35 in at $10.88M, out at $13.62M, +$1,766.29
→ 15:10 in at $7.15M, out at $9.16M, +$2,356.81
→ 18:30 in at $8.20M, sold at $7.26M, -$658.78
→ 21:45 in at $5.11M, out at $6.40M, +$2,159.28
→ 01:55 in at $5.98M, out at $14.47M, +$3,808.90

that last one made the night, my bots bought it off people giving up at 1:55am and sold it to people chasing at 5:05am

i slept through both, i found out over coffee

a year ago i would have been one of those sellers at 21:45

$1,000 → $86,695.51 in nine nights, +$13,224.74 of it last night

the whole build is in the article below ↓ free

bookmark this for the next time you want to sell the bottom

send it to the friend who sold a coin at the bottom this week, before he does it again

have you ever sold something at the exact bottom and watched it double right after?
